What if movement could help you feel like coming home to your body — not by pushing harder, but by learning to move with more awareness, ease, and acceptance?

Join us for a special experiential Braless & Lawless session with Elaine Shen of Seattle Changing Room, where we’ll explore the GYROTONIC® movement system and how its principles can support our bodies as we age.

This one is a little different from our usual Speaker Series conversations: we’re going to move!

Elaine will lead us through a live teaching and movement experience focused on areas that become especially important in midlife and beyond, including:

  • Connecting with and strengthening the pelvic floor — including ways to begin finding it if you’ve never been quite sure what “engage your pelvic floor” is supposed to feel like.
  • Supporting lymphatic flow with gentle movement you can use when your body is feeling sluggish or stagnant.
  • Movement snacks — small, practical movements you can weave into everyday life without needing a workout, special equipment, or an hour of free time.

Join us in the studio — or from home

Elaine is opening 12 spots at Seattle Changing Room for Braless & Lawless participants who would like to experience the session in person. These spots are first come, first served.

If you want one of the 12 in-person spots, please register for the event AND email Becky to reserve your place in the studio.

Everyone else can join us live via Zoom and participate right along with us. If you’re joining from home, have a sturdy stool or chair nearby- ideally one where your feet rest flat on the floor when seated (around 18″ is a good height for most) –  and a washcloth or small hand towel.

Whether you’ve tried GYROTONIC® movement before or have absolutely no idea what it is, you’re welcome. Come curious, wear something comfortable, and be ready to experience your body in a new way.

No experience required. Just bring the body you have.

About Elaine

Elaine brings an especially interesting lens to this work – one that bridges science, the body, and lived experience.

Before becoming an instructor, Elaine was a neuroscientist working in biotech, drawn to questions about the brain and behavior. When postural pain led her to try the GYROTONIC® Method, she found not only physical relief, but improved mental clarity and emotional wellbeing.

That experience ultimately shifted her career trajectory. Today, she helps others develop strength, mobility, flexibility, and resilience through movement and exploration.

As managing owner of Seattle Changing Room, Elaine cares deeply about cultivating a calm, grounding space where people feel welcomed, seen, and valued — and free to grow into who they are becoming. She loves teaching anyone who is curious, open, and ready for exploration and discovery.
